J4JAYS ‘HAW’ HOW AND WHY

Jay Mullings here, founder of J4JAYS Skincare. It’s not a podcast, I’m just here to give you some information in a format that may be more accessible. 
For people who find it hard to stare at screens or, if your narrator isn’t working the way you would like, you could just listen to the audio and I’ll explain what’s in this post literally right here right now.

HOW TO USE J4JAYS

How to use the various J4JAYS products and why you should. Okay, there are three J4JAYS products: J4JAYS Regal Body Butter (RBB), the J4JAYS Loving Lip Balm (LLB) and the J4JAYS Fans Only Body Oil (FOBO). I had a lot of fun naming that particular product. 

LOVING LIP BALM

Anyway, right, lip balm is self-explanatory. You put it on your lips to moisturise, salve/soothe your lips to keep them healed and hydrated. You can also use LLB on your cuticles and on your hands. Comes in a 15g glass container. Very nice, very neat, very, very beautiful.

It contains natural ingredients and all my products have a barcode that you can, or rather a QR code, sorry. The QR code does include the barcode, so I guess technically that was correct. You scan the QR code and it brings up what you call a ‘product passport’. Now also on the label of the product it tells you what’s in it, but if you couldn’t make it out, let’s say your label has faded over time, whatever the case may be, you could scan the QR code. It will tell you what’s in it, it will tell you how to use it and it will tell you how long the product is due to last (both open and unopened). All that information is there.

I won’t need to say too much more because it’s pretty straightforward and luckily, like I said, all my products at the moment, I haven’t spoken about future products, (I don’t know when you’re listening to this), are waterless. Meaning there is no water in there. Water is one of the elements that causes a lot of these skincare and beauty products to degrade (quicker) over time. So what ends up happening is you have to introduce a stabilising element, something that will counteract the way it erodes the ingredients, and they (Brands) usually do that to: A, to keep them on shelves longer and B, to keep the actual product from going stale too quickly. I don’t have those in my product, so what you have is a natural product that will last as long as it can last and it doesn’t have anything degrading it (and it’s stored in a glass container). All of these (J4JAYS Products) are stored in glass containers.

HOW TO USE LLB

I would say with the lip balm, you apply it as many times as you need to. My personal approach is I apply a minimal amount often. Some people may prefer to apply a rich amount and then just top up, they’ll need to top up less times because it should stay glossy for longer. I prefer to just use the minimum amount and reapply, reapply, reapply as many times as I need to. These LLBs last a long time, trust me. I made about half dozen five gram test containers about 18 months ago and I kept two for myself. I gave away the other four. Honestly I couldn’t finish the first one for the best part of nine months. 5 grams worth, that’s all it took, and then I lost the second one.

Did I lose it? I don’t know what happened. I don’t know if there was a hole in my… I went to an event, I was showing it to people and then somehow it didn’t come home with me. Maybe someone nicked it, I don’t know. If they did, well, I hope they enjoy it. I’ve started using the ones that’s for sale now, the 15g. I have one of those and I’m honestly nowhere near half of it yet. I’ve been using it since, what, February. So yeah, these things last a long time but they also are good for a long time. Again, product passport, scan the QR code and there’s a fun element I don’t want to spoil the surprise but there’s a playlist on there that I curated. This is all cruelty free. It’s never tested on animals. It is tested on a human, me! I won’t sell anything I wouldn’t use myself. That’s something you can always quote me on.

REGAL BODY BUTTER

The Regal Body Butter is 200 grams. Is it solid? Is it liquid? It’s somewhere in between because people ask me this all the time: It’s a butter, so it has the consistency of butter. It’s not hard and it’s not soft. I kind of like that actually because in the winter, it may get a little bit harder. In the summer, it may be a little softer but it’s never liquid and it’s never like stiff solid where you can’t get it out. 

HOW TO USE RBB

I recommend using a wooden product applicator or a silicone one to take the product out and put it onto the lid. Then you can use your fingers to put it in your hands, soften it by rubbing it together and applying it. Again, this information is contained within the QR codes.

I’ll get to the point of actually making a short video showing how I use it just so it’s crystal clear but I believe it’s already quite clear and self-evident how to apply it. A little goes a long way, sure, but everyone’s skin is different. So if your skin is really dry, use a bit more. If you have skin that gets moisturised quite easily and I’ve been using this consistently for a long time so I need less now. Even if you start and you use a lot because your skin is dry, over time, the idea is you’ll need less and less because your body/skin retains a lot of that moisturiser. That’s the Royal Body Butter in a nutshell… 

FANS ONLY BODY OIL 

The Fans Only Body Oil, is a natural alternative to people using baby oil a lot; baby oil contains petroleum. Well, popular (read most) brands of baby oil contain petroleum. It’s sort of very high gloss, very cheap and not very good for your skin long term. It was all a lot of people knew, just like people only knew petroleum-based lip balm and that is also not good for you. Petroleum is a waste component of crude oil mining.

Honestly, there is no reason this should go on our skin. None! Our skin, our lips, none of it. It shouldn’t happen, so I’ve made Fans Only as a natural alternative to that featuring high quality ingredients. It has a nice, sheer, luxurious viscosity to it so you can (also) use it for massages. I use it on my skin a couple times a week. I actually use the Body Butter five days and the Body Oil two days but again; different skin, different requirements. You might be more five days Body Oil, two days Body Butter. It depends. I definitely use it on my feet and my feet are super soft. I’m very proud of that now as someone who had really hard feet before. It keeps them nice and soft. I need to soak my feet a lot less. I need to exfoliate them a lot less than I did before because I’m constantly using and consistently using the Body Oil on them. A little bit goes a long way. Each squirt is like between one millilitre or less.

HOW TO USE FOBO

So there’s, at least a hundred pumps in there. Like I said, it goes a long way because it’s quite, it’s not watery, it’s not thin and it’s not like ridiculously thick sludge so it doesn’t come out. I would say it’s the perfect consistency. The formula as is, is what’s best for your skin.

You just apply it; put it on your skin and off you go! Keeps your skin nice and hydrated for a long time. Super hydrates your skin if you have dry skin and really gets you on that journey to getting your skin to a level where you need less and less with each application.

Those are the main reasons regarding what J4JAYS products are and how to use them. All of this information is contained within the QR codes. You’re always welcome to just go ahead, scan those and look at each of the tabs. It’ll give you all the information. It will tell you how long it lasts etc. Sorry, how long the product lasts unopened versus once you’ve started using it. With the oil for instance, the FOBO will last ages. Honestly, smells great too!

It’s a light (warming) fragrance, it’s not overpowering. 

J4JAYS PRODUCT CERTIFICATION & SAFETY

All my J4JAYS products are certified. What that means is the formulations have been tested and verified (they check the irritation/reaction levels of each ingredient) to make sure. You know, because above certain levels will kick off allergies and cause certain reactions. It’s all been verified. These products can be used from the ages of three (years old) upwards.

As always with all of these things, always patch test. Try a little bit first, see how it goes. If it’s fine, then try using it properly. Generally, if something (skincare) can be used on your neck, it can be used on your face. If you can use it on your body, you should be able to use it on your hands and feet. You use it on your lips, you can use it on your hands, so on and so forth. Everyone, every household is different. It’s certified from the ages of three plus, but again, these are all natural ingredients.

There’s no, there’s no nasties in there, no cancerous additives, nothing like that. No chemical stabilisers in these current three (RBB, LLB, FOBO) products.

I don’t know when you’re listening to this and if there’s a broader range by then, but they’re waterless, all stored in a glass container, all natural ingredients, no chemical stabilisers, no, no cancerous additives. 

Skin is as unique as a fingerprint. Everyone’s skin is potentially different, even if they are similar, even if they look the same, there are differences, J4JAYS is made with dry, sensitive, uneven skin tones in mind, and therefore it makes it much better for everyone else that uses it. These are my three products that I have so far.
